Are you feeling lucky? As we approach St. Patrick's Day, kids in our class did some writing about why they feel lucky. I was pleased to see that these students recognize all of the wonderful things that they already have. They find pleasure in the simplest joys in life. Pancakes are still high on the list. This week in math, kindergarten is practicing counting forward and backward on a numberline. | First grade is reviewing addition of multiple addends and reading word problems to complete graphs and charts. Second graders are using repeated addition to build multiplication problems. In science, the class is identifying dinosaurs and classifying them as carnivores or herbivores. For social studies, the class finished their study of Kwakiutl Native Amerians. They made talking sticks and then designed | totem poles to illustrate their oral story-telling. Our Habit of Mind this month is Taking Responsible Risks. The Kittredge jugglers taught our students the basic principles of juggling. Kids had an opportunity to practice with tissues. I was proud to see so many of our classmates willing to give this new activity a try. Coming Up: 3.17.21: Treasure Circle Conferences: April 8-9. If you need to sign up, please use this link. |
