Thank you, families, for your patience as we adjust to hybrid learning. I realize that you might like to hear what our day looks like in a bit more detail. Here it is: As students enter the classroom on 25th, they sanitize their hands and put their belongings away in cubbies/on hooks. We are adjusting to taking turns in the hallway, making sure we give each other enough space. Second graders are in their own room for math, spelling, grammar, Spanish, and reading. K-1-2 are in the same room as a whole class, for science, social studies, writing, calendar, art, our Wednesday flex period, and breaks/reading. Over the last two weeks, we have been using a monitor in the classroom to | project students and teachers who are home. We have two cameras in the classroom and 4 microphones. We thought this would be sufficient for hearing and seeing teachers/peers over zoom. However, I've learned that this can be a challenge for teachers and students at home. This week, We are trying to log in with individual devices (thank you for your help!) and this seems to be an improvement. We are continuing to try a variety of audio options, to be heard well at home and still be safe in school. We hope to have that fine-tuned this week. Currently, we are on zoom during class time. We are off zoom during snack, morning recess, | P.E., lunch, afternoon recess, and two 15 minute breaks a day. Distance learners and students in the classroom have office hours with Ms. Perkins or myself once a week. We request that students wash their hands before snack and lunch. We ask that they sanitize after eating or after they have been outside. At the end of the day, Ms. Forrest and I help with handwriting, reading, journal writing, and offer assistance for unfinished work. K/1/2 is dismissed from school at 2pm from the 25th Avenue exit. Thank you for allowing space for social distancing during drop off and pick up. We appreciate your help! Coming up: 2/3/21: Star Student (no treasure circle) |
