I'm looking forward to seeing you during our conference time this week. Please remember that Thursday and Friday will be mini days this week. Dismissal is at 12pm. Lunch time will be after dismissal on these days, so no need to pack a lunch. A larger snack, would be a great idea. In math, kindergarten is learning about solids, plane shapes, and fractions. First grade is reviewing graphs and charts. They are also practicing double digit addition and subtraction. Second Grade is reviewing place value and using standard, extended, and word formats to express this. | For language arts, our class read a book about pollution in honor of Earth day. Students are now taking what they know about pollution to address the reader. They will try to persuade the reader to help prevent pollution. This assignment is in process. You may want to ask your child, what ways they are thinking they could persuade others to prevent pollution. In social studies, the class finished learning about phenomenal women. Their writing included an introduction, body, and conclusion. Each child had the opportunity to share | what they learned about their phenomenal woman with their peers. In science the class continues to learn about the 3 states of matter. Students were able to observe a liquid take the shape of the cup, a solid scoop of ice cream keep its shape in the cup, and what happens when a gas is poured into the cup. Ms. Perkins' idea to demonstrate this with root beer floats, was, to say the least, well received. Coming up: April 7: Treasure Circle April 8 & 9: mini days, noon dismissal/conferences April 13: Book order due |
